Hi, my name is Missy and I am 22 year old trying my very best to take care of my 78 year old grandmother, Joy. My mother passed away in Sept of 2003 and in November 2003 I had to move to Pinellas County to help my grandmother. I really am aggainst putting Joy in a nursing home because when I was 8 years old she gave up her whole life to help my mother raise my brother and I. The problem is that I need alot more help taking care of her and I have no one to turn to in my family. My brother is autistic and my mom passed away. My mom didn't have any other brothers or sisters and my grandmothers husband passed away 12 years ago. But my mom had been taking care of her sense and if she was able to then i'm sure i can too. And here's the really touch one, my grandmother insist on living in an apartment that keeps me working about 50 hours a week. I want to move to a cheaper county and go back to school, but I understand I wont get the support from neighbors and church. So it sucks but like i said I wont be able to live with myself if i put her in a group home. But the scary thing is she's starting to call me Kita and she's talking about a grandaughter that doesn't exsist n(i am her only granddaughter). Plus she's leaving the house to get junk food (candy when she's a boarder line diabetic and I'm not her mother to say no) and I don't think a 78 year old women needs to walk a block or two and cross a busy road at noon. Plus I'll drop her off at the curb so she doesn't walk from parking spot at the store and she wonders away. She's also eatting so much cheese that she thinks she need to drive olive oil to let it all out (if you know what i mean). And a few other really silly thing and I was hoping someone had a few ideas for me on where to turn or what to do. Please help me if you can. thanks.
