If you only have ira no other saveings you are married with app 70,000 in ira if you go into a nursing home would your ira be a countable asset if so the spouse is left with nothing??

Frank your IRA will need to be adjusted so that it will not count. You may have to adjust the pay out of the ira or move it to the spouse. It is a problem that can be fixed.
