My father is in Michigan, so you may not be able to help me. Generally, does one with dementia have any legal rights left? Mt step-mom, who is POA has placed my father in a nursing home. He has not adjusted and wants very much to live with me. I have the means to care for him and want to very much, but my step-mom refuses to allow him to leave the nursing home. She feels that he is safer there and closer to her. Dad is not in need of 24 hour nursing care at this point, just supervision. He still cares for all his personal needs.
